SB 91 is on the agenda for the Senate Finance committee for 2/27/23 at 3pm.

Volunteer Fire Departments
and Emergency Medical Services
need your help!

Please support Senate Bill 91

• SB 91 provides vital funding for essential public safety services we sometimes take for granted.

• Volunteer fire departments and emergency medical services squads are critical to the well-being of families and communities across the state. We cannot take them for granted. We have seen VFDs and EMS squads close. They need our support now more than ever.

• Imagine calling 9-1-1 for help, but your rural area no longer has fire protection or EMS service. Your family’s lives and property could be at risk.

• SB 91 simply restores a portion of homeowners’ insurance premiums that VFDs and EMS squads lost during the 1990s. That funding is critical to emergency responders who face today’s higher fuel and operating costs.

• The average cost to a homeowner’s premium would increase about $15 per year — only $1.25 per month! If a VFD would close in an area, the loss of those necessary services would increase a homeowner’s insurance premium significantly more than $15 per year.

• Question to consider: Without this bill, how much will your homeowner’s premium increase if the VFD in your area can’t survive and ceases operation?

• Without passage of SB 91, some VFDs and EMS squads will have to close their doors. Others will be forced to use outdated equipment to fight house and business fires or treat sick neighbors.

• Please help our Volunteer Fire Fighters and Emergency Medical Technicians. Pass SB 91!
